What is net.gain?
A new service for Voluntary and Community Organisations
The net.gain programme will help Voluntary and Community Organisations (VCOs) understand how their objectives can be advanced through the use of ICT. Rather than investing in technology in the hope of becoming more efficient, the net:gain programme will enable VCOs to examine how they share information and identify where technology can bring efficiencies and improve service delivery.
What is net.gain?
The service has been developed by Ruralnet|uk and is being delivered throughout England via the UKonline network

is a joint venture between Cosmic and Future Learning CIC in Bristol.
Who can benefit from the net:gain programme?
Senior managers, Chief Officers, trustees and anyone involved in the business planning and direction of their organisation.
How will it work?
The initial step would be to attend a 3 hour planning workshop where we can assess your needs and you can learn the net:gain methodology to see whether it is appropriate for your organisation now or for your next planning cycle. After attending this workshop there is a full package of coaching support provided which we can tailor to suit your individual needs. The cost of joining net.gain and attending a planning workshop is just £50+vat. This is a one off payment and will entitle you to free coaching support (hours dependent on the size of your organisation), and all other national and local benefits.
The process helps you explore your internal and external communications and processes, how you meet your clients’ needs, funders’ requirements, your staff’s needs, stakeholders and so on, bringing in evaluation, monitoring, security, quality issues.
We also arrange technology demonstrations, so you can see what’s available, what’s on the horizon, and what might fit your needs – always looking at Full Costs of Ownership.
Finally, we work with you to map what funding and support you need, and help you put in place a plan for the future.

COSMIC Case Studies
“Whilst having a strategic plan and annual work plan, neither made any reference to ICT and I thought that the organisation needed to spend some time reflecting upon where we were and what we wanted to achieve in relation to ICT. Net Gain was advertised and it seemed like an appropriate tool to meet our requirements. In addition I have worked with Cosmic over a number of years and had a good relationship with the staff and this helped my decision as well” (M. Goodman, VYS Devon)
