After School Club at COSMIC

From the beginning of the next autumn term COSMIC is delighted to be running an after-school club for the benefit of local school children.
The club will run from the 3rd September to 21st December (excluding October half-term) and will provide a total of 15 weeks of delivery. This will incorporate 45 individual sessions for the club to run on three afternoons per week (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday) from 3.30pm to 5pm. During these times support will be offered for homework and research activities.
Funding support for the after school club has come from Ottery Devon County Councillor Roger Giles who has used part of his DCC Locality budget to fund the service.
Roger Giles said:
“COSMIC has provided an excellent service for the people of Ottery and the surrounding communities for some time. Ottery is very lucky to have COSMIC operating in the town. I was very disappointed when some months ago, because of reduced funding from the Learning and Skills Council and from the University for Industry, COSMIC had to end its well-used Internet Café service.”
“However discussions between COSMIC and myself took place, and I am delighted that as a result of those talks the very important after-school club for local young people is to commence in September. I am very pleased to have been able to play a part in this service which will provide educational and social benefits and opportunities for local young people.”
